Por que Lewis Hamilton recebeu uma penalidade de 15.000 euros no GP da Arábia Saudita FP2?

Lewis Hamilton found himself in a dangerous situation with Logan Sargeant during yesterday’s practice session at the Formula 1 Jeddah Corniche circuit. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix started with all 20 cars hitting the track at full force. However, for the seven-time former world champion, Free Practice 2 turned out to be one he would rather forget, resulting in a 15,000 euro fine.

During Free Practice 2 at the Formula 1 Jeddah Corniche circuit, drivers were pushing the limits at a specific moment. It was during this moment that Lewis Hamilton encountered a dangerous situation. Hamilton, who was on a slow lap, was moving towards the middle at Turn 11 to make space for the Ferrari competitor. Unfortunately, Mercedes did not inform Hamilton that the Williams was on a fast lap. With Turn 11 being a blind corner, Hamilton obstructed Sargeant, forcing the American driver to brake sharply and take evasive action to avoid a potentially catastrophic accident.

Following the session, the FIA released a detailed report on the incident, stating:

“While Lewis Hamilton has been fined 15,000 euros for his actions during the Logan Sargeant incident in FP2, it was a challenging day for him and his team. Russell, on the other hand, had an impressive performance, finishing the FP2 session in second place, behind the Aston Martin competitor.”

Russell achieved a lap time of 1:29.057, securing a higher position than Hamilton, who finished in eighth place with a time of 1:29.504.

Reflecting on his performance after the session, Hamilton expressed:

“During the ongoing 2024 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton has consistently been outperformed by his teammate in every aspect. It will be intriguing to see how he bounces back from the qualifying session of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.”

As the 2024 Formula 1 season progresses, Hamilton’s ability to recover from his teammate’s dominance will certainly be captivating.
