Ross Chastain nega colisão intencional com Kyle Busch em Sonoma apesar de se sentir perplexo com a maioria das situações.

Ross Chastain believes he did not make a mistake in Sonoma. The Richard Childress Racing driver had high hopes for a strong performance in Sonoma, which would continue the team’s recent success. Chastain had a good start in the Toyota Save Mart 350 and was on track to finish in the top five until an incident occurred.

During the final lap of the 110-lap race, Chastain’s Chevy No:1 tried to overtake Kyle Busch’s Chevy No:8 in turn 4A. However, his attempt to avoid contact with the experienced driver resulted in his tires locking up and Busch spinning out. As a result, Busch dropped to 12th place while Chastain maintained his position in the top five.

After the race, Chastain addressed the incident and clarified that he did not intentionally collide with Busch. He attributed it to a mere accident caused by the circumstances. He also mentioned that he had a similar experience when Chase Elliott of Hendrick Motorsports moved him during a previous race, resulting in a fourth-place finish for Chastain.

Prior to discussing Busch’s response to the incident, Chastain expressed his satisfaction with the 110-lap race, especially during the first and last laps. He is pleased to be gradually regaining his speed and successfully overtaking other cars on the track.

The 2024 season has been challenging for Chastain and his team, with the Sonoma race marking their first top-five finish in the last 13 races. They have mainly achieved results within the top 15 this season, but Chastain hopes that his performance in Sonoma will be a turning point for the rest of the season.
