2024 Corvette E-Ray escolhido como carro pace para o Indy 500.

The pace car for this year’s edition of the Indianapolis 500 has been revealed by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar. The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray 3LZ Coupe will lead the field of 33 cars to the green flag later this month. This Corvette is unique as it is the first electrified Corvette ever produced. It combines a traditional 6.2-liter V8 engine with electric traction capabilities on all four wheels. Unlike typical hybrid cars, the E-Ray simultaneously uses electric and internal combustion power sources, resulting in a combined power of 655 horsepower. With an impressive acceleration time of 2.5 seconds to reach 60 MPH, the Corvette E-Ray is more than capable of leading the field of race cars during the 108th edition of the Indy 500. IMS president J. Douglas Boles expressed his excitement, stating that it is fitting for the fastest production Corvette to lead the field. Chevrolet has been chosen to provide the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 a record 35 times, making them the preferred manufacturer. The car features an Arctic White color with black and natural carbon fiber details, as well as the iconic red Indy 500 logo on the doors. To ensure seamless communication between pace car driver Sarah Fisher and race control, additional information and communication hardware will be installed in the vehicle. The 108th Indianapolis 500 will begin on May 14 with practice sessions and culminate in a 200-lap race on May 26.
