MG está de regresso ao mercado nacional e aposta forte na mobilidade elétrica

The iconic British brand MG is back in the national market, with a strong focus on the electric vehicle segment.

With a history dating back to 1924, MG is a brand known for producing exciting sports cars and has been owned by SAIC Motor since 2005, which aims to regain the prominence the brand once had in Europe.

In this sense, MG aims to become the new reference in electrified driving and for that, it aims to make electrification accessible to drivers ready to embark on a new electric and sustainable lifestyle.

The brand’s spirit is to bring electrified mobility to everyone, with a range of models designed to suit European tastes, with the highest quality standards, significantly superior safety features compared to the market average, and equipped with cutting-edge technologies, at an extremely competitive and affordable price.

“We are facing a perfect match: MG is strongly committed to promoting electric mobility and Portugal still has a long way to go. Therefore, based on the latest data on electric vehicles sold in recent months, we believe that electro mobility in the Portuguese market will experience a huge boost,” said Ricardo Lotra, Country Sales Manager of MG for the Portuguese market.

The British-origin brand has the MG4 Electric as the most sought-after model by Portuguese consumers. The model, based on the MSP (Modular Scalable Platform), is purely electric and offers power outputs ranging from 170 to 435 hp, powered by 51, 64, and 77 kWh batteries, with ranges between 350 and 520 km in WLTP cycle, and prices starting at €32,990.

In official MG dealerships in Portugal, it is also possible to find four other models, with the ZS EV standing out, a 100% electric SUV, along with the Marvel R Electric, a premium SUV with a range between 402 and 370 km.

The MG5 Electric is also available, which the brand claims to be the world’s first 100% electric station wagon, with power outputs ranging from 156 to 177 hp, 51 and 61 kWh batteries, and a range of 320 to 400 km.

In addition, MG also offers the Plug-in Hybrid EHS, which combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 162 hp with a 122 hp electric motor, allowing for a combined power of 258 hp and an electric mode range of up to 52 kilometers.
