Alpine revela alinhamento para o WEC e confirma Mick Schumacher

The World Endurance Championship (WEC) is the next step in Mick Schumacher’s career. After two seasons in Formula 1 with Haas, he did not secure a seat for 2023, once again remaining without a cockpit for next year despite being part of Mercedes as a test and reserve driver throughout this year. Now, he is heading to WEC with Alpine.

The French team announced its lineup of drivers for the Hypercar this Thursday. Three of the drivers were already working with the team: Charles Milesi, Matthieu Vaxivière, and Nicolas Lapierre. In addition to them, Schumacher will join Ferdinand Habsburg and Paul-Loup Chatin – who already know Alpine from the past. It is a trio of rookies: Schumacher has never competed in endurance racing, while Chatin and Habsburg will make their debut in the top class.

For now, the distribution of drivers among the two A424 cars is not known. That will be revealed on February 7, along with the car livery, in an official presentation event.

Bruno Famin, vice-president of Alpine Motorsports, explained the choice of drivers: ‘With Philippe Sinault, we wanted drivers who are not only fast and reliable, but also show a true team spirit and good racing talent to better represent the colors of Alpine in the top class of the World Endurance Championship. We are absolutely pleased to have these six drivers and we hope they bring all their experience and qualities to the project’.
