Volkswagen has decided to listen to customers and address one of the biggest criticisms of its electric range. The new ID.3 Neo arrives with a thorough revision of the interface, abandoning controversial solutions and recovering classic elements that improve everyday usability.
End of the most criticized touch controls
One of the most significant changes in the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo is the elimination of the controversial “touch slider” used to control volume and temperature.
Instead, Volkswagen has introduced a row of physical buttons below the air vents, allowing direct access to functions such as:
- climate control
- ventilation
- air conditioning
- defrosting
- air recirculation
More intuitive steering wheel and controls
Also on the steering wheel, the touch controls have been replaced with conventional buttons, offering a more precise and intuitive use.
Another resolved issue is in the doors: the ID.3 Neo once again includes four independent controls for the windows, abandoning the previous solution that was considered impractical.

New rotary knob and more functionality
The center console gains a new rotary control, which allows for volume control and track or station changes, enhancing ergonomics.
Additionally, improvements have been made in organization, with new, more accessible spaces.
Larger screen and revamped interface
The instrument panel has been enlarged to 10.25 inches, replacing the previous small screen.
The interface includes graphics inspired by classic models, reinterpreted for the electric context, displaying information such as consumption and energy recovery.
Subtle exterior changes
On the outside, the ID.3 Neo features a subtle facelift:
- new headlights
- redesigned bumper
- more prominent front light bar
- body-colored rear (without black panel)
Updated platform and more autonomy
The model maintains rear-wheel drive and now uses the MEB+ platform.
It is available with three batteries:
- 50 kWh — up to 417 km
- 58 kWh — up to 494 km
- 79 kWh — up to 630 km
Fast charging varies between 105 kW and 183 kW, allowing for a recharge from 10% to 80% in about 26 to 29 minutes.
New electric features
Among the new features are:
- one-pedal driving
- V2L function (powering external devices)
- improved assistance systems, including automatic stopping at traffic lights
Arrival in the European market
The ID.3 Neo will go on sale in Europe later this month, with the first deliveries expected in July.
A step in the right direction
With this update, Volkswagen corrects many of the errors pointed out in the original model, betting on a more intuitive and functional interface.
In an increasingly competitive segment, especially with the entry of Chinese brands, this evolution could be decisive in keeping the ID.3 relevant in the market.
