Verstappen beats Ferraris to secure pole position for the Miami Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen achieved his first pole position at the Miami Grand Prix, defeating Charles Leclerc by 0.141s in qualifying. Verstappen, who had won the two previous races in Miami, outpaced his Ferrari rival, who couldn’t match his own initial attempt. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, improved his time on the second attempt and secured fourth place on the grid. Lando Norris qualified ahead of Oscar Piastri in the McLaren battle, while George Russell and Lewis Hamilton took a risk by using medium tires in Q3. Lance Stroll maintained his supremacy over his Aston Martin teammate, Fernando Alonso, finishing in 11th place compared to Alonso’s 15th place. Alpine also showed promise but couldn’t improve on their final laps in Q2. Daniel Ricciardo struggled in qualifying and is set to start last due to a grid penalty from a previous race. Kevin Magnussen and Zhou Guanyu were the two drivers who finished behind Ricciardo.
