Aston Martin critica penalidade da F1 em Lance Stroll por choque com Daniel Ricciardo como “extremamente severa”

Lance Stroll faced intense criticism for his collision with Daniel Ricciardo during the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix. The race was full of excitement, including the deployment of two safety cars. However, during one of the safety car periods, Stroll collided with the rear of Ricciardo’s car, forcing him to retire from the race. As a result, race stewards penalized Stroll with a 10-second penalty. This decision was met with disapproval from Ricciardo’s team boss.

Daniel Ricciardo started the race in 12th position and was on course to score points before the pit stop phase. He managed to overtake Lance Stroll during the safety car period and seemed to be on his way to a positive result. However, his hopes were dashed on lap 27, when Stroll violently collided with his car, prematurely ending his race.

Despite the penalty imposed on Stroll, his team manager, Mike Krack, believes it was too severe. Krack argues that the incident was a chain reaction and claims that the stewards did not allow Stroll to explain why it happened before making their decision.

Despite facing criticism within the F1 community for his collision with Ricciardo, Aston Martin stands by Stroll and supports his point of view. The 25-year-old driver remains steadfast in his belief that the incident was a racing accident, attributing it to a domino effect rather than a lapse in judgment.

Stroll maintains that the collision was caused by the drivers in front of him slamming on the brakes at turn 14, resulting in a deceleration that he could not avoid. However, Ricciardo disputes this explanation, stating that Stroll was not paying attention to the safety car restart and was only focused on hitting the apex of the corner. The heated dispute between them is set to continue at the next race in Miami, where both drivers will have the opportunity to address the issue.
