Ford has announced the arrival of the Mustang GTD in Europe, a model introduced in 2023, and that will finally be commercialized in the Old Continent.
The sports model has a limited edition of 1000 units for Europe, and features a Supercharged V8 5.2-liter engine, with over 800 hp of power that is capable of “singing” up to 7500 rpm, and which according to Ford was specially developed with dual air intakes and the first dry sump oil system installed in a road-going Mustang to help keep the engine lubricated during more demanding curves.
All the power is sent from the engine to the rear wheels through a carbon fiber driveshaft connected to an 8-speed rear transmission for an almost 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear.
The performance of the Mustang GTD is further enhanced by a next-generation semi-active suspension that can vary both spring rates and height, communicating with each other to maintain the best possible mass distribution, even in the most severe situations. In Track mode, the suspensions become firmer and the ground clearance decreases by 40 mm. The high-performance model homologated for the road, features cutting-edge technology, including active aerodynamics.
Ford announced that spectators attending the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race on June 15 and 16 will be able to see the Mustang GTD in action, complementing the performance of the Mustang GT3 in competition.
The brand plans to open orders for the Mutang GTD in the summer, but has not yet revealed the price of the model or how many units of the “ferocious” Mustang will be available for the national market.
