Ferrari admite terceiro Hypercar no WEC em 2024 ou 2025

A Ferrari completes the first year of its Hypercar program in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and, after convincing results and performances, does not exclude expanding beyond the factory team in partnership with AF Corse.

The program director, Antonello Coletta, said quoted by Motorsport.com that this expansion is on the table: ‘Now we are going for a potential third car. We believe that our knowledge is good enough to manage another car. I don’t know if we will have a third car, but we are ready to build another car. If we have the condition for next year, it should be an option. But it is not confirmed if it will be in 2024 or 2025’.

If this expansion occurs, according to the responsible person, it should not only be for the 24 Hours of Le Mans as some Ferrari rivals do: ‘If we consider a third car, it will be for the whole year, not just for Le Mans. There is no interest for us to manage the third car only for one race’.

A third car could be entrusted to a partnership between Richard Mille and AF Corse, but Coletta clarified that it is not unavoidable for AF Corse to operate the third 499P: ‘It depends on the circumstances. If AF Corse has a budget, it should be the idea to manage it with AF Corse. In any case, we need to manage all the engine components and all the electronic components, but this is normal as in Formula 1 with a customer team’.
