The automotive industry may be on the brink of a radical transformation — and XPENG wants to lead it. The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer has revealed ambitious plans that go far beyond traditional cars, including the start of production of flying cars and the development of humanoid robots.

Flying cars to enter production as early as 2027

XPENG has confirmed that it expects to begin large-scale production of its “flying cars” as early as 2027.

Market interest is evident:

  • more than 7,000 orders already registered
  • majority concentrated in China

At this moment, the company is working to obtain the necessary approvals from aviation authorities.

Robotaxis and global testing

In addition to flying vehicles, XPENG is also moving forward with:

  • robotaxi testing in Guangzhou later this year
  • production of hundreds to thousands of units in the next 12 to 18 months

The company considers 2027 a decisive year, with international testing in collaboration with global partners.

Humanoid robots arrive before flying cars

XPENG’s bet is not limited to mobility. The company plans to start production of humanoid robots in the fourth quarter of 2026.

In the initial phase, these robots will be used for functions such as:

  • customer service
  • sales support

But the long-term vision is much more ambitious.

A business larger than automobiles

According to the company’s leadership, the robotics segment could, in the future, surpass the automotive business itself.

The expectation is that, in the next 10 to 20 years, humanoid robots will have more applications in daily life than vehicles.

Partnership with Volkswagen gains importance

The collaboration with Volkswagen is also expected to intensify.

Both companies are already working on joint electric models, and XPENG sees potential to expand cooperation in various technological areas.

Ongoing Global Expansion

XPENG is already operating in about 60 countries outside of China, with:

  • 10% of global sales coming from abroad
  • 15% of total revenue coming from these markets

The goal is clear: to exceed 50% of international revenue in the next 5 to 10 years.

A Vision Beyond the Automobile

XPENG’s strategy shows a much broader approach to mobility and technology:

  • electric vehicles
  • autonomous driving
  • air mobility
  • robotics

The Future is Accelerating

While many manufacturers are still focused on the transition to electric, XPENG is already looking to the next level.

If it meets the announced deadlines, it could become one of the most disruptive companies of the next decade.
