Xiaomi has recalled about 117,000 electric vehicles due to a problem with the driving assistance system, as announced this Friday by the State Administration for Market Regulation in China.
The regulatory authority stated that 116,887 units of the SU7, Xiaomi’s first model, produced between February 6 and August 30, 2024, may be affected by a defect in the driving assistance system.
In certain situations, when the L2 assisted driving function is activated on the highway, some vehicles “do not recognize or respond adequately to extreme scenarios”, which may increase the risk of an accident if the driver does not intervene in time, the regulator explained.
Xiaomi has already announced that it will resolve the issue through a free software update carried out remotely.
According to the statement, owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by the company via text message.
