Racing fans got a thrilling surprise during Sunday’s NFL on FOX pre-game show as Team Penske unveiled a striking new livery for Will Power’s No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet. The once-black Dallara DW12 will now feature a bold red-and-yellow color scheme, set to debut at the NTT IndyCar Series season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida, in March.
A Bold Departure
The revamped livery, with its fiery red base and yellow accents, is a sharp departure from Power’s traditional black Verizon paint scheme, adding a splash of vibrant energy to the grid. Fans of the sport couldn’t help but draw comparisons to Chip Ganassi Racing’s iconic Target-sponsored cars, which dominated IndyCar for decades with a similar color palette.
“This bold, new livery reflects a new chapter in our partnership, showcasing the evolution of our brand and enduring connection with race fans,” said Nick Kelly, VP of partnerships at Verizon. “We’re excited to continue this journey with one of the sport’s most accomplished teams.”
A Partnership Cemented in Victory
The 2024 season will mark 17 years of collaboration between Team Penske and Verizon, a partnership synonymous with success. During this tenure, Power has become one of the most decorated drivers in the series, clinching two NTT IndyCar Series championships and an Indy 500 victory in 2018.
“It goes without saying that I owe so much of my success to Verizon,” Power said. “They have been with me throughout my time at Team Penske, with a lot of success both on and off the track.
“We have run a variety of paint schemes in that time, but never one that stands out quite like this one. New paint schemes keep things fresh and add an extra level of excitement to an already exciting time to be in the NTT IndyCar Series.”
The Evolution of the No. 12
The revamped look of the No. 12 car symbolizes more than just a design update; it reflects Verizon’s evolving branding strategy while cementing its legacy in motorsport. The car’s new aesthetic is expected to stand out among the competition, capturing the attention of fans and competitors alike.
Power, a veteran with 41 career wins and a relentless drive to dominate, hopes the fresh livery will be a good omen as he prepares to chase another championship.
A New Era Begins
With the 2024 IndyCar season just around the corner, the unveiling of the new No. 12 car has added another layer of excitement to an already highly anticipated campaign. Power’s passion and Penske’s commitment to innovation ensure that the upcoming season will be one to watch.
March can’t come soon enough, as the streets of St. Petersburg will not only roar with the sounds of engines but also dazzle with a fresh burst of color from Will Power’s electrifying new ride.
