Verstappen considerado pela Mercedes, apesar de possíveis problemas

The Mercedes drivers in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, did little to silence the speculations surrounding a possible move of Max Verstappen to the team. This comes after a fight between Max’s father, Jos, and Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner. Although Verstappen is currently under contract with Red Bull until 2028, his future has been called into question due to the controversy surrounding Horner’s leadership. There are two main arguments for Verstappen’s possible departure from Red Bull: firstly, the team may face internal issues with Horner at the helm, making it a less competitive choice in the long run; and secondly, Jos Verstappen’s criticisms of Horner are a sign that the Verstappen camp may secretly want to leave for other reasons, such as doubts about the 2026 engine project. These possibilities gained strength after the Bahrain race, with Mercedes being mentioned as a surprising alternative. Both Hamilton and Russell expressed their belief that any team would be eager to hire Verstappen if given the chance. However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff stated that a driver will always choose the fastest car, which is currently Red Bull’s. Despite the intense rivalry between Verstappen and Mercedes in the past, Hamilton acknowledged that it would not be surprising for Verstappen to be linked to the team. Verstappen himself stated that he has no reason to leave Red Bull, given their recent dominance in F1. Although Verstappen is undeniably a talented driver, there are factors to consider regarding his possible move to Mercedes. Russell, who is seen as Hamilton’s successor, has established himself as a key part of the team and is expected to grow into a leadership role. Additionally, Mercedes has other promising drivers, such as Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who could be promoted to F1 in the near future. Overall, while Verstappen’s move to Mercedes is not out of the realm of possibilities, it may not be the most logical decision for both parties involved.
