Norman Nato emerged as the top driver in the Formula E at the first round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport car, driven by Nato’s predecessor Andre Lotterer, secured victory in the Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 KM race, finishing 33 seconds ahead of Nato’s #12 Hertz Team Jota car. The #93 Peugeot TotalEnergies, co-piloted by Jean-Eric Vergne and Nico Muller, seemed destined for second place but suffered a fuel loss on the final lap, denying the French team a strong start to the season. Stoffel Vandoorne, driving the #94 Peugeot, disappointingly finished in 16th place. Nyck de Vries of Mahindra Racing helped his Toyota Gazoo Racing #6 secure sixth place, while Sebastien Buemi of Envision Racing finished ninth in the sister Toyota #7. Robin Frijns, Buemi’s teammate at Envision, contributed to the 11th place finish of the BMW M Team WRT #20. Edoardo Mortara, de Vries’ teammate at Mahindra, helped guide the Lamborghini Iron Lynx #63 to 14th place.
Running out of fuel after holding second place for nearly nine hours was a devastating blow. However, we will bounce back from this setback. Our team showed its capabilities, and my teammates @nico.mueller51 and @mikkeljansen were truly exceptional.
