Skoda has just announced the opening of orders for the Elroq in the national market, the first fully electric model from the Czech brand in the strategically important compact SUV category, with an indicative price starting from €28,500 + VAT, which translates to €35,055 for the entry-level variant with the most basic equipment.
The new Elroq is the latest option in Skoda’s growing electric range, which will include several new models in the coming years. The compact SUV is the electric alternative to the Karoq and offers price parity with its gasoline counterpart in many markets.
The Elroq is a compact vehicle measuring about 4.50 meters in length and features a front that stands out with the new design language that Skoda calls Modern Solid, characterized by segmented headlights and a glossy black panel that conceals sensors and the front camera, replacing the traditional grille.
In addition to bringing a new look to the Skoda lineup, with clean surfaces and a sloping roofline introduced with the Modern Solid design, the Elroq also benefits from improved aerodynamics, allowing the Czech brand to announce a coefficient of 0.26, thanks to many innovative solutions, such as the design of the mirrors or the front cooling system that opens and closes depending on the cooling needs of the battery.
The Elroq offers a spacious interior, including the largest trunk in its segment with a capacity of 470 liters, which can expand to 1580 liters with the rear seats folded down.
Notable features include a 13” infotainment screen with an even more intuitive user interface. The Design Selection interiors utilize numerous innovative and sustainable materials. There are also new Simply Clever features, including smart compartments that provide 48 liters of storage capacity and a storage net for the charging cable under the trunk floor. A wide range of intuitive connectivity features, advanced assistance systems, and up to nine airbags ensure superior driving comfort and the highest levels of active and passive safety. An optional head-up display with augmented reality functions and optimized graphics is also available.
Additionally, the Elroq is equipped with the voice assistant Laura, which integrates ChatGPT, allowing it to assist in controlling the infotainment system, navigation, and more.
Based on the MEB platform from the VW Group for electric vehicles, the Elroq is offered at launch in three versions. The entry-level variant 50 features a 55 kWh battery and a rear-mounted motor with 175 hp, allowing for a range of up to 375 km. The 60 version is equipped with a 63 kWh battery and offers 204 hp, claiming a range of up to 400 km. Both have a maximum torque of 310 Nm and reach a top speed of 160 km/h. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 9 seconds for the 50 version and 8.5 seconds for the 60.
Lastly, the top-of-the-range versions, 80 and 85x, the latter with all-wheel drive, feature a significantly larger 82 kWh battery and 286 hp of power with a maximum torque of 545 Nm, promising a range of up to 581 km.
These top versions accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 and 6.2 seconds, respectively, and reach a top speed of 180 km/h.
The battery charging times and technology vary depending on the model, but the Elroq supports DC fast charging of 145 kW, 165 kW, and 175 kW. The latter can charge the 82 kWh battery from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
Skoda has announced that the first units of the Elroq will arrive in the national market at the end of the first quarter of 2025.
