Stellantis will temporarily halt production at its factories in Poissy, France, and Pomigliano, Italy, starting at the end of September and for up to three weeks, due to weak demand in the European market.
In a statement, Stellantis announced that the Italian factory, located near Naples, will suspend production of the Fiat Panda from September 29 to October 6, as well as the Alfa Romeo SUV, Tonale, until October 10.
According to the company’s note, the 3,800 workers at the factory will be placed on paid leave during the three-week break.
In the French factory in Poissy, “Reuters,” citing a Stellantis spokesperson, reports that production will be suspended from October 13 to 31 “to adjust its production rate to the challenging market in Europe.”
The Poissy factory employs 2,000 people and currently produces the compact SUVs DS3 and Opel Mokka.
