/ Daniel Serra secured the first position in the GTD and GTD Pro qualifying session for the Six Hours of Glen, the fifth round of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

A 15-minute session took place in dry conditions for the 21 entries in the GTD class and 11 in the GTD Pro class.

As the cars warmed up and lap times improved, the professional drivers set impressive times. Parker Thompson in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 was the only GTD car in the overall top 10.

Alex Sims in the #3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R briefly took the lead but suffered a puncture in the left rear tire. This hindered his chances of challenging Daniel Serra, who set a fast lap time early in the session. The top ten were separated by just one second.

Serra, who also set the track record in GTD Pro, claimed pole position in the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 with a lap time of 1:44.203. Sims in the #3 Corvette finished second with a time of 1:44.317.

In an interview with IMSA Radio, Serra mentioned that starting from pole position is advantageous due to the difficulty of overtaking at this track. He also praised the performance of his car in sectors two and three.

Ross Gunn secured third position in his #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with a time of 1:44.387, followed by Jack Hawksworth in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus with a time of 1:44.511.

Nicky Catsburg claimed fifth position in his #4 Corvette with a time of 1:44.561. Parker Thompson, the GTD pole-sitter, qualified in sixth place overall and expressed his excitement for the race.

The next GTD contender was further back, separating Thompson from his class rivals within the GTD Pro field.

In 12th place overall and second in GTD was the #023 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari driven by Onofrio Triarsi, who achieved a lap time of 1:45.242.

Mikael Grenier in the #32 Korthoff/Preston Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 secured third place in GTD with a time of 1:45.432, followed by Russell Ward in the #57 Winward Mercedes-AMG with a time of 1:45.541.

Patrick Gallagher in the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 completed the top five in the GTD category with a time of 1:45.716.

The six-hour race will start tomorrow at 11:10 AM EST/4:10 PM BST as the sixth round of the 2024 IMSA calendar.
