The opening session of the event, which marks the 93rd edition of this prestigious race, kicked off with a bang as Kubica piloted the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P to the top of the time charts.
However, the road to victory was not without its obstacles. The session was marred by two significant interruptions, keeping drivers on their toes. Debris on the track forced a temporary full-course yellow flag, followed by a heart-stopping incident involving Luca Ghiotto of #34 Inter Europol Competition Oreca 07 LMP2. Ghiotto’s misfortune led to front-left suspension damage on his car after a hair-raising spin in the treacherous Porsche Curves.
As the session progressed, teams seized the opportunity to log valuable track time at the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe. Privateer Ferrari stole the show in the Hypercar category, with Kubica setting the pace with a blistering lap time of 3:27.010 in the #83 Ferrari.
