Recaro Automotive ganha novo “fôlego” com investimento italiano

One of the most well-known manufacturers of seats for the global automotive industry, Recaro, filed for bankruptcy in July; however, the company may be on the verge of gaining new “momentum” with the entry of an Italian investor.

This is the Italian Proma Group, a company that produces automotive components and operates 26 factories across three continents, which has just signed an investment agreement with Recaro Automotive to take over the company and restart the production of the German brand in early 2025.

Based on this newly revealed agreement, Proma Group will retain several employees from the original sales and technology departments at Recaro Automotive’s headquarters in Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany.

“The investment in Recaro Automotive will strengthen Proma Group’s ability to provide premium automotive seating products while adopting the most advanced innovations in the automotive sector,” said Luca Pino, CEO of Proma Group, in a statement.

It is worth noting that Recaro, founded in 1963 for the production of seats for the automotive industry and bucket seats for motorsport, succeeded Reutter Carosserie, a company that was established in 1906 to produce bodies for Porsche and VW.

Over the years, Recaro has produced seats for a wide range of automotive brands, particularly for their sports models, often as optional equipment.

The German brand had among its extensive list of clients Audi, Aston Martin, BMW (M models), Mercedes (AMG models), Cadillac, Ford, Mazda, Porsche, Renault, and more recently, Sony, as the prototype of the Afeela featured Recaro seats.
