“Pre-orders for the Xiaomi SU7 plummet in China.”

SU7: primeiro elétrico da Xiaomi chega em 2024 com autonomia até 800 km

The Chinese company Xiaomi is experiencing a sharp decline in reservations for the SU7 sedan, driven by the growing negative reaction from consumers to an accident involving a brand vehicle registered in April in China.

After the strong success recorded in sales of Xiaomi’s 100% electric model, which in December 2024 even surpassed sales of the Tesla Model 3 in China, the world’s largest automotive market, Xiaomi is now facing a negative wave, with widespread public debate about the safety of the smart driving features offered by the brand, following the accident with an SU7.

In this way, the latest data reveals that SU7 orders fell by 55% in April compared to March, and the trend continued in May, with 13,500 orders made in the first two weeks of the month, as reported to “Reuters” by analysts from Deutsche Bank.

These numbers compare to the 23,000 reservation requests recorded in the second week of March, which constitutes a weekly record.

Additionally, Xiaomi found itself embroiled in a new controversy last week after apologizing for what it called “unclear communication” following complaints from SU7 owners who protested that the company had falsely advertised a double-vented carbon fiber hood that is available at an additional cost for the SU7 Ultra.

However, around 400 owners of the SU7 Ultra requested refunds after discovering that the hood did not have the air intakes, contrary to what Xiaomi had advertised.
