Esteban Ocon, Alpine F1 team driver, has been cautious about his future in Formula 1 after his departure from the team at the end of this season. He acknowledged that the outcome is uncertain. Alpine recently announced that they have mutually decided to end their partnership with Ocon. This decision comes at a time when tensions between Ocon and the team are high, following a collision between the Alpine drivers in Monaco. Ocon had previously mentioned that he was in negotiations with several teams to avoid being left behind as he was in 2019. However, he admitted that there is no guarantee he will be on the track in 2025. Despite the uncertainty, Ocon is excited about future challenges and his goal is to remain in Formula 1.
Ayao Komatsu, Haas Team Director, revealed that Ocon is being considered as a possible replacement for Nico Hulkenberg, who will be going to Sauber. Komatsu highlighted Ocon’s experience and success in the sport, making him a strong contender. He also mentioned Ocon’s work ethic and commitment, emphasizing his positive qualities. On the other hand, Oliver Bearman, a Ferrari driver, is also speculated as one of the top options for a permanent spot at Haas. If Haas chooses both Bearman and Ocon, it would leave Kevin Magnussen without a place in the team. Magnussen acknowledged this possibility and is prepared for it.
