“I would say it’s my best pole position. I haven’t had many, but of the ones I’ve had, this is the best. It was a fierce battle throughout the weekend, but in the end, it all came down to executing a perfect lap, and that’s exactly what I did.”

When asked if the weekend was highlighting McLaren’s strengths, Norris replied: “It’s not just this weekend – we’ve been fast for the past two months since Miami, and we’ve been strong. We missed out on pole position by not being able to do a perfect lap. But today, everything came together perfectly.”
“Max and Red Bull seemed a little stronger throughout the weekend, but we made some small changes for the last race, and I had areas where I could improve, and that’s exactly what we did. I know it will be difficult to compete against Max, Lewis, and everyone else behind us. But we’re here to win, and that’s my plan,” Norris declared.
The CEO of McLaren, Zak Brown, couldn’t hide his excitement and praised Norris’ performance: “That was an incredible lap. I spoke to Lando and Oscar before they went out, and Lando had the confidence that he had a chance to get the pole. The team sent him out at the perfect moment, and he got a great tow in the first sector.”
“Oscar was doing a good lap, but he pushed a bit too hard in the third sector. It was amazing to see the sectors light up as Lando crossed them. The weather seems uncertain for tomorrow, but our race pace looks strong. Anything can happen,” Brown speculated.
While Norris enjoyed one of his best qualifying sessions in F1, his teammate Oscar Piastri had a disappointing result, making mistakes in his two attempts. This means he didn’t set a time and ended up in P10 in Q3.
