After introducing the new generation of the Micra, which arrived reinvented with the help of Renault, the Japanese brand may once again leverage synergies with the French manufacturer and introduce a sporty version of the Micra, based on the Alpine A290.
In statements to the British publication “Auto Express”, Christophe Amblard, product planning director of Nissan in Europe, made it clear that the Japanese brand is “actively analyzing all types of possibilities for its future model range, including an expansion of the Nismo line. But nothing can be confirmed at this time.”
Despite Nissan experiencing a period of significant financial difficulty for model development, the close alignment of the Micra with the Renault 5 means that the work Alpine has done on its A290 hatchback could be an efficient way to give the Micra more power and a sportier chassis.
