Nissan has revealed that the new pilot production line for solid-state batteries is already under construction at the Yokohama factory in Japan, with the aim of further promoting development and innovative technologies in the production of batteries for electric vehicles.
The Japanese brand has revealed that the new solid-state batteries have a higher energy density, approximately twice that of conventional lithium-ion batteries, significantly shorter charging times due to superior charge and discharge performance, and lower costs due to the use of less expensive materials.
Nissan has already announced its intention to launch electric models equipped with the new solid-state battery by the fiscal year 2028, before expanding its use to a wide range of vehicles in order to make its electric models more competitive.
