The Japanese company Nidec, manufacturer and producer of electric motors, is building an electric motor almost entirely “made in China” to assist Toyota in what is the largest automotive market in the world.
According to Mitsuya Kishida, the company’s CEO, about 99% of the materials and parts of the motor are produced in China, emphasizing in a recent interview that building the integrated motor was “incredibly difficult“.
It is worth noting that using Chinese parts in the production of electric motors allows the company to reduce costs and helps lower the final price of the vehicle, which is necessary to compete in what is the automotive market of the world.
Nidec is already working with Toyota for the Chinese market, having supplied the motor for the electric SUV bZ3X, which began selling in the Chinese market in March, and which according to the Japanese brand has already sold about 20,000 units.
