Pony AI, a company based in Guangzhou, China, is testing its autonomous vehicles, Gen-7 robotaxis, on the roads of Luxembourg, with the goal of marketing its models in Europe.
The tests conducted through the company Emile Weber, according to the CEO of the company, James Peng, serve to prepare for the entry of the robotaxis into the European market in the coming years.
Pony AI is confident that it will achieve the production target of 1,000 units of its robotaxi set for 2025 and is exploring new markets in Europe in this regard.
More than 200 Gen-7 Robotaxi vehicles from Pony AI have been launched since mass production began two months ago, putting the company on track to meet its goal for this year.
Pony AI also announced that it is testing its technology in South Korea, where it obtained national licenses for robotaxi operations. The company also has a partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai and with Uber Technologies to deploy autonomous vehicles in the Middle East.
“In a year or two, when regulations are ready and users are adopting autonomous driving, I think these markets will grow significantly”, said Peng.
Remember that at the beginning of August, Baidu’s rival Apollo Go signed an agreement with the US ride-hailing platform Lyft to deploy robotaxis in Europe starting in 2026, specifically in Germany and the United Kingdom, pending regulatory approval.
