The Misano World Circuit will continue to be included in the WorldSBK calendar until the 2029 season, as announced on Sunday with a contract extension. Misano made its debut in the championship in 1991 and recently hosted an exciting round of WorldSBK races. Toprak Razgatlioglu from ROKiT BMW Motorrad impressed spectators with an exceptional performance, winning all three races in front of a delighted audience. The contract extension for Misano is a result of being recognized as the most-watched round of the 2023 WorldSBK season, with a weekend attendance of 70,815 spectators.
“We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with the Misano World Circuit,” said Gregorio Lavilla, Executive Director of WorldSBK. “The Emilia-Romagna Round is a crucial event for WorldSBK, known for its passionate fans and excellent organization. Extending the contract until 2029 demonstrates our commitment to bringing top-level racing to this historic venue. We look forward to many more years of exciting races and unforgettable moments here in Misano.”
Luca Colaiacovo, President of Santa Monica SpA, added: “After significant investments in the facilities by the Financo ownership, we are working to ensure that the MWC and the region have a calendar that is always deserving of being one of the capitals of world motorsport. The synergy between us is a winning combination: the MWC provides organizational capacity and a location that amplifies the success of events through our collaborative efforts. Currently, we are experiencing a record-breaking year in 2024, with expectations of reaching 800,000 participants, while also laying the groundwork for future developments. In essence, we never stop our efforts.”
Andrea Albani, Executive Director of the Misano World Circuit, concluded: “Great events like the WorldSBK generate interest in motorsport and simultaneously drive the growth of a diverse supply chain, which we have increasingly valued. These opportunities lead to increased commercial engagement, manufacturer testing, and expansion of the business network at the MWC Square. These are tangible and positive results, culminating in the organization of the ITS Maker, a program aimed at training qualified professionals who are valuable to companies. The contract renewal until 2029 inspires confidence and optimism among entrepreneurs in our industry.”
