Isack Hadjar Shines on Red Bull’s Maiden Engine Test – A Promising Start!

In an exhilarating debut that has sent shockwaves through the F1 community, Isack Hadjar has taken the wheel of the all-new RB22, marking a monumental moment for Red Bull Racing. The young driver, brimming with enthusiasm, reported a remarkably smooth first day of testing at the Barcelona circuit, showcasing the team’s innovative in-house engine for the very first time.

The anticipation surrounding Red Bull’s new engine was palpable, with many wondering if the transition would come with teething troubles. However, Hadjar’s experience behind the wheel proved to be a revelation. “It was pretty productive,” he exclaimed, clearly elated with the day’s accomplishments. “Surprisingly, we managed to do a lot more laps than we expected. Everything went pretty smooth. We had, like, only minor issues, so it’s quite impressive considering our first day with our own engine. So it was definitely smooth.”

Hadjar, who is only in his second year of Formula 1 racing, faced the daunting challenge of adapting to a completely new racing paradigm, thanks to sweeping regulatory changes this season. Yet, he handled it with grace and skill. When asked about the driving experience, he noted, “It’s definitely a lot less load in general. It’s a bit more predictable compared to the previous generation of cars.” His insights shed light on the enhanced flexibility that these new engines offer compared to their predecessors.

Furthermore, the young talent highlighted the simplicity and driver-friendly nature of the new machinery. “They’re simpler. It’s easier to play around with them, and also on the PU side, there’s a lot more options for the driver to play with. So I already started to work on it today. So that was very interesting,” he shared, leaving fans eager for what’s to come.

Despite the promising start, Hadjar remains grounded. “Honestly, [the driveability is] pretty decent for the first day. It doesn’t feel too far off what I’m used to, at least on my first season, on all the upshifts, downshifts, that was okay.” He acknowledged that there are still tweaks to be made but expressed satisfaction with the progress made thus far. “I couldn’t have prepared the year better. So I’m happy to have at least a very good first day to pay that off, but we are definitely not done with the work.”

As the testing period continues, all eyes will be on Red Bull and Hadjar, who has already earned the support of team legend Max Verstappen, who believes Hadjar “deserves” this golden opportunity to step up.

With the adrenaline high and the stakes even higher, fans can expect thrilling developments as Red Bull seeks to solidify its place at the forefront of F1 innovation. The journey has only just begun, and after such a promising initial outing, the sky is truly the limit for Isack Hadjar and the RB22!
