Laguna Seca, known for its stunning landscape, was the setting for a challenging qualifying session. The high temperatures caught many drivers off guard, especially with the use of the softer red tires. However, one driver, Alex Palou, managed to navigate the conditions perfectly, recording an impressive time of 1:07.1465. Despite the heat, Palou’s setup remained unchanged, although he had to adapt to the constantly changing levels of grip. Joining him on the front row are Kyle Kirkwood and Felix Rosenqvist, both representing Honda-powered teams, which dominated the top six starting positions. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing day for two Team Penske drivers, Josef Newgarden and Will Power, as they failed to advance beyond the first round. This unexpected result will lead to an interesting mix of cars on the grid for Sunday’s race. With few overtaking opportunities on the track, the drivers will face an additional challenge in trying to make their way through the pack. The race is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
