The offer of sports models in the largest automotive market in the world, China, is on the rise, and now it was Great Wall Motors (GWM) that revealed a “teaser” of its future supercar, which aims to rival the Yangwang U9, a project that took five years to complete.
The teaser revealed on the Chinese social network Weibo was published by GWM’s president, Wei Jianjun, this Wednesday, to mark the company’s 35th anniversary. Although Jianjun did not disclose details about the model, the supercar appears covered among the company’s executives, standing out for its classic proportions of a supercar: low, wide, and elongated at the rear, with a long tail shape. At the front, aggressive air intakes can be distinguished in the bumper.
Although technical specifications of the new model have not been revealed, it is expected that the supercar will make use of the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine, recently developed by GWN, combined with a plug-in hybrid system.
This powertrain, developed in-house, debuted earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show. GWM plans to implement this powertrain in several of its models, including high-performance pickups and SUVs.
Although GWM has not announced an official release date, the new supercar may be revealed before the end of the year.
