Genesis revealed its bold vision for the future of high-performance luxury this Wednesday by introducing the Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar, which will be serving the new Magma Racing team in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2026.
The presentation of the new team and the Genesis Hypercar took place in Dubai, where Hyundai’s luxury brand announced that the new team will be led by Cyril Abiteboul, the current president of Hyundai Motorsport and former head of the Renault Formula 1 team.
Additionally, André Lotterer and Luis Felipe “Pipo” Derani will be the drivers developing the Magma Hypercar throughout 2025, and they will compete in the World Endurance Championship in 2026.
“The official launch of Genesis Magma Racing is a significant occasion. Hyundai Motorsport will play an important role in this ambitious program. We are elevating our racing experience to a whole new level as we prepare to compete in some of the most challenging championships in the world,” said Abiteboul.
Genesis has not disclosed technical details about the GMR-001 Hypercar that will serve the team in the WEC, which features a meticulous surface design that characterizes the hypercar’s body, with each panel created to evoke movement, even when the sports car is stationary.
Reflecting Genesis’s cutting-edge design, the GMR-001 Hypercar was developed at Genesis Design Europe under the guidance of Luc Donckerwolke. The black finish and design of the GMR-001 Hypercar are inspired by the Magma line, signaling a new era for Genesis’s high-performance vehicles.
