Galp aposta na mobilidade elétrica para pesados

Galp has announced the installation of its first electric charger for heavy vehicles with a maximum power of 400 kW at the facilities of the road transport company TJA – Transportes J. Amaral, S.A. in Estarreja.

Developed by Siemens in Corroios, this ultra-fast charger installed at TJA allows charging an electric truck’s battery from 20% to 100% in about 60 minutes.

The TJA fleet of zero-emission trucks consists of two MAN eTGX vehicles, with a range of 500 km, that are serving the Simoldes group in transporting automotive parts between its factory in Oliveira de Azeméis and Stellantis, based in Mangualde, marking a new chapter in road freight transport with zero emissions in Portugal.

In a statement, Galp noted that road freight transport currently accounts for about 9% of global CO2 emissions, the majority of which come from medium and heavy transport trucks.

“We feel that we are making an important contribution to a clean transition in our sector”, said João Miguel Amaral, administrator of TJA. “This project represents more than just a fleet renewal – it is a firm commitment to the future and sustainability of the logistics sector, made possible thanks to the support of our client, Simoldes, and our partners, Galp and MAN”, concluded João Miguel Amaral.
