In a stunning display of dominance, Ferrari once again asserted its power in the World Endurance Championship by securing the top three positions in the qualifying round of the Spa 6 Hours event. The Italian team showcased their prowess as Antonio Fuoco clinched his first pole position of the year, leading the pack aboard the #50 Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar.
Not to be outdone, Robert Kubica claimed the second spot in the AF Corse customer entry, closely followed by Antonio Giovinazzi in the #51 factory car. Ferrari has been unstoppable this season, with Giovinazzi previously securing pole positions in the opening races at Qatar and Imola.
The competition was left trailing behind, with the #94 Peugeot 9X8 2024 LMH driven by Stoffel Vandoorne coming in fourth, followed by Alex Lynn in the best-performing Cadillac V-Series. Mick Schumacher put up a solid performance, securing the sixth spot in his Alpine A424 LMDh.
Surprisingly, reigning champions Porsche and Toyota faced setbacks in qualifying, failing to make it to the Hyperpole session. Both manufacturers struggled to match Ferrari’s pace, indicating a potential shift in the championship standings.
In the LMGT3 class, Lexus made a statement with Finn Gehrsitz claiming the top spot ahead of the Spirit of Leman Aston Martin and the Proton Competition Mustang GT3s.
The stage is set for an intense battle at the Spa 6 Hours, promising high-speed action and fierce rivalries as the teams vie for supremacy in the world of endurance racing. Stay tuned for what is sure to be a thrilling and unpredictable race on the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
