In a market where trust is still one of the biggest obstacles for new brands — especially in the electric vehicle sector — Dongfeng has decided to play a strong card. Instead of aggressive campaigns or vague promises, the Chinese brand opted for something more straightforward: to offer the best warranty in the market.

And this could change the game.

More warranty to gain credibility

Dongfeng has announced a significant enhancement of the warranty conditions for its urban electric model, the Dongfeng BOX.

From now on, all units purchased after March 1, 2026, will benefit from:

  • 7 years or 300,000 km of general warranty
  • 10 years of battery warranty, with no mileage limit

A clear leap from the previous conditions and, more importantly, a hard-to-ignore argument for those who still look skeptically at new brands.

It's not just marketing — it's positioning

This type of decision does not come by chance. Dongfeng knows that entering a market like Portugal — where European and Japanese brands have dominated for decades — requires more than just a competitive price.

It requires credibility.

By offering such an extended warranty, the brand is, in practice, telling the consumer: “we trust the product enough to take on the risk for longer than any competitor”.

And that carries weight.

An electric city car with realistic ambitions

The Dongfeng BOX does not aim to reinvent the segment. Its proposal is clear: efficient, simple, and accessible urban mobility.

With a 61 hp (45 kW) motor and a 42.3 kWh battery, it offers a range of up to 310 km (WLTP) — more than enough for daily use in the city.

Fast charging allows it to go from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes, a figure in line with the segment.

But the real advantage lies elsewhere.

Above-average equipment in the segment

Despite its accessible positioning, the BOX includes elements that are not always common in this type of offering:

  • synthetic leather upholstery
  • 360º camera
  • complete driving assistance package

The idea is simple: to offer more perceived value without significantly increasing the price.

Competitive price in an increasingly pressured market

The model is available in Portugal starting from 24,990 euros, as part of a limited campaign.

In a context where the prices of electric vehicles continue to be one of the main barriers to adoption, this strategy places the BOX in an interesting position for customers seeking their first experience with electric mobility.

A bet on long-term trust

More than power, autonomy, or technology, Dongfeng is betting on a dimension often overlooked: the user's peace of mind.

In an electric vehicle, battery durability is one of the biggest concerns. By eliminating the mileage limit on the battery warranty, the brand directly addresses that fear.

A sign of what is changing in the industry

The decision by Dongfeng reflects a broader trend.

Chinese manufacturers are no longer competing solely on price. They are competing on:

  • value
  • trust
  • perceived quality

And they are doing so with concrete proposals.
