Daniel Suarez believes he did not make a mistake in Iowa. The NASCAR Cup Series race in Iowa was a successful debut for the track in the Cup Series, with Daniel Suarez emerging as the winner of the Iowa Corn 350. However, the race should have been won by the 2021 Cup champion, Kyle Larson, who had the fastest car of the day and started the race in pole position, overtaking Blaney on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Kyle Larson’s race was ruined by an incident during the restart after winning the second stage on Sunday. Daniel Suarez, from Trackhouse Racing, lost control and collided with Larson’s No. 5 Chevy from behind. This caused Larson to spin and hit Denny Hamlin before crashing into the wall and significantly damaging his car.
Daniel Suarez gave his perspective on the contact with Kyle Larson, which resulted in Larson colliding with Denny Hamlin. During his post-race interview, Suarez stated that the incident was not his fault and considered it a racing incident. He mentioned that he was not sure exactly what happened during the crash, but believed it was a result of him moving up the track while Larson and Brad Keselowski tightened the inside lane.
Reflecting on his performance on Sunday and the disappointing result, Kyle Larson acknowledged that he had the best car in Iowa. He admitted that he would have liked to have had the opportunity for a restart again to secure the victory.
The day ended up being a big disappointment for Kyle Larson, and his 34th position also caused him to lose the lead in the points standings. His position was taken over by another driver. Larson will be hoping for a comeback and a win in the next race in New Hampshire.
