Red Bull Boss Shuts Down Rumors of Verstappen Moving to Mercedes
In a whirlwind of speculation surrounding Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen potentially switching to Mercedes, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has stepped up to dismiss the chatter as nothing but “a lot of noise.” Despite Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff expressing interest in Verstappen in the past, the current scenario of Verstappen joining Mercedes remains purely hypothetical.
Horner, in an interview with Sky Sports, brushed off the rumors, stating, “It’s a lot of noise. I think Max gets quite annoyed by it, and you know we’re very clear with the contract that we have with Max until 2028. Anything is entirely speculative that is being said, but yeah, we tend not to pay too much attention to it.”
Wolff, on the other hand, hinted that the chances of Verstappen moving to Mercedes, at least for the 2026 season, are slim. Meanwhile, Mercedes driver George Russell, who is yet to secure a contract extension, has been linked with other teams, including Aston Martin. Horner commented on Russell’s situation, acknowledging the potential frustration but emphasizing that contractual matters are confidential between the driver and the team.
