Yangwang is the luxury brand of BYD, and it will finally arrive in Europe, with a range of high-performance and high-tech models, exemplified by the SUV U8, which made headlines for its ability to float for 30 minutes and navigate at 3 km/h or even perform 360-degree turns.
The BYD sub-brand was launched in 2023, with the U8 being the first model from Yangwang. The SUV has a maximum power of 1196 hp and a maximum torque of 1280 Nm, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, making it its debut model.
Later, the U9 emerged, a 100% electric supercar capable of reaching a top speed of 385 km/h and utilizing a fully hydraulic suspension to jump over some obstacles or ‘dance’.
The arrival of Yangwang in Europe was confirmed to “Autocar” by BYD’s vice president, Stella Li, who made it clear that the arrival of the new Chinese brand will take place in 2026.
The person in charge of BYD did not reveal much about Yangwang’s plans for Europe, confirming, however, that the all-terrain U8, as well as the super sports car U9, are two models that will be available in the European market, to which the U7 will be added, a sedan that the brand is preparing, equipped with four electric motors and boasting a power of 1,250 hp, which promises to compete with the Lotus Emeya.
