BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, is strengthening its strategic commitment to plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV) in Europe and Portugal, with the introduction of the “BYD Super Plug-in Hybrids” concept.
This new approach, which stands out for its greater efficiency compared to other conventional plug-in hybrid solutions, has arrived in the national market with the launch of the Seal U DM-i Comfort, the flagship of this new generation of plug-in hybrids. Equipped with DM-i Plug-in Hybrid technology, which combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder combustion engine with a front-mounted electric motor and a 26.6 kWh battery, it offers a range of up to 125 km in 100% electric mode and a total combined range of up to 1125 km. The maximum power is 218 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h.
Unlike traditional systems, BYD’s DM-i Plug-in Hybrid technology is “electric-centric”: it prioritizes the use of the electric motor, providing greater energy efficiency, extended electric range, and a superior driving experience, in an environment of sophistication and innovative technological character.
To reinforce its commitment, BYD will launch the BYD Seal 6 DM-i in the last quarter of this year, in Sedan and station wagon body styles that incorporate the concept of “BYD Super Plug-in Hybrids.”
Based on the DM 4.0 platform (the same used by the BYD Seal U DM-i), the Seal 6 DM-i stands out for its Ocean Aesthetics design and strengthens the range of BYD plug-in hybrid models available in the national market, thus facilitating the transition to electric mobility.
