BYD, the Chinese manufacturer of new energy vehicles, continues to surprise with the speed at which it reaches new production records, and this time, the brand announced the production of its 13 millionth vehicle.
The milestone was reached about eight months after hitting the 10 million mark, and BYD revealed that the 13 millionth vehicle is a U7 sedan from the luxury brand Yangwang, which will arrive in Europe in 2026.
The majority of the brand’s sales occur in the domestic market, China, and according to BYD, over 2.11 million new energy vehicles, which include 100% electric cars, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids, were sold in the first half of 2025. This represents a 31.5% increase compared to the same period last year. However, the company did not specify how many units of each type of propulsion were sold in total.
Remember that BYD was founded in February 1995 and is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in China, currently employing more than 900,000 people. The Chinese brand began its activity in the battery sector before entering the automotive market in 2003, with the acquisition of Xian Qinhuan Automobile, which was facing difficulties, having reached 10 million vehicles produced in 2024, and less than a year later, it reached the barrier of 13 million.
