Bugatti continues to impress with the production of unique models, satisfying the most extravagant desires of its customers, and whenever possible, it takes the opportunity to commemorate some of the most important events in the history of the Molsheim brand.
This time, Bugatti has created a Chiron Super Sport inspired by the Type 50S, a competition model with which the brand participated for the first time in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1931, six years before the brand’s first victory in the most important endurance race.
The new Chiron Hommage T50S was created at the request of a customer who wanted to personalize his black supercar with details about the brand’s past. Without wasting time, Bugatti’s Sur Mesure division unveiled the history of the Type 50S with number 5, one of the three models that the French brand lined up in the 1931 24 Hours of Le Mans, and which ended up serving as the basis for the visual of the Hommage T50S.
This unique Chiron Super Sport features a grille painted with the number 5 of the Type 50S, a number that is also painted in white on the doors. In addition, Bugatti’s design team decided to add the inscription ‘Le Mans 1931’ next to the rear wheel arches, while the rear wing features a design of the layout of the Circuit de la Sarthe, where the historic endurance race is held.
There are also “Le Mans 1931” inscriptions on the headrests of the sports seats, as well as the Type50S design on the door panels.
This unique model of the Chiron Super Sport, although not a convertible like the Type 50S that raced in Le Mans, is equipped with a “Sky View” roof, an optional feature from Bugatti.
Mechanically, there are no changes, and the Chiron Super Sport Hommage T50S features an 8.0-liter W16 “quad-turbo” engine with 1600 horsepower, capable of reaching a top speed of 338 km/h.
