Brembo e Michelin juntas para melhorar a segurança e conforto de condução

Brembo, the world leader in the design, development, and production of braking systems, has joined forces with Michelin, a leader in tires and a reference in innovation in the field of composite materials.

The two companies have signed an agreement to explore the potential of their intelligent solutions to revolutionize vehicle performance and provide drivers with unparalleled levels of safety and comfort.

The goal of the partnership between Michelin and Brembo is to combine the expertise of both companies through a continuous exchange of real-time data between Brembo’s revolutionary Sensify braking system and the grip data transmitted by Michelin’s connected solutions.

This tire information allows engineers to calibrate the braking system with immense precision. Initial tests, both in virtual simulation and on the ground, are very promising. In the first phase, Michelin integrated its tire models and algorithms with Brembo’s intelligent braking systems and vehicle simulations, all in a virtual environment. During the second phase, real tests were conducted on the tracks of Michelin’s Research and Development Center, validating the results obtained during the initial simulations.

The tests demonstrated that, with similar pneumatic equipment, the braking distance can be reduced by up to four meters in emergency situations under various conditions.

The new braking system also demonstrated a reduction in response time, as well as minimizing traction loss, improving lateral stability, and preventing wheel lock-up.

“We are thrilled to partner with Brembo, a recognized leader in its sector. Our shared passion for innovation and excellence drives us towards a new era of enhanced safety. At Michelin, we are committed to extending the lifespan of tires, providing our customers with peace of mind, while also protecting their purchasing power and the environment. Currently, Michelin is a ‘data-driven company,’ where simulation and software development become key tools to control tire performance in real-time. Together, Michelin and Brembo are developing an innovative solution for the vehicles of tomorrow, created today for automobile manufacturers,” said Serge Lafon, president of Michelin’s original equipment business unit.
