Bonovo BMW sairá do WorldSBK ao final de 2024.

Magny-Cours (FRA), September 10, 2023 – The FIM Superbike World Championship received news on Monday that the Bonovo action BMW racing team will be leaving the competition after the end of the 2024 season. The team, led by owner Jürgen Röder, made their WorldSBK debut in 2020 with Yamaha before transitioning to BMW in 2021. Despite their efforts, the Bonovo action BMW team has faced challenges in their fourth season, with riders Garrett Gerloff and Scott Redding struggling to unlock the full potential of their M 1000 RR motorcycles. Nonetheless, the team has managed to secure several top ten positions, accumulating a total of 56 points so far in their final year in the WorldSBK Championship. Looking towards the future, Röder announced that he will be stepping down from his position in 2025 for personal reasons, resulting in Bonovo action’s withdrawal as a BMW factory team. Röder expressed his gratitude to the loyal fans who have supported the team over the years, emphasizing the importance of their enthusiasm in making their journey possible. He also reflected on the joy and entertainment the team has brought to others and the memorable moments they have shared together.

Röder expressed gratitude to Michael Galinski, the Team Manager of Bonovo, for his hard work and acknowledged BMW for their support throughout their four-year partnership with the German manufacturer.

“I would also like to extend my appreciation to our entire team led by Michael Galinski, who has always done an exceptional job,” Röder stated.

“We are hopeful that we can make an even greater impact this year. We are doing our best to progress and aspire to show positive results from our side.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to BMW. BMW has always been a fair and reliable partner, providing us with unwavering support. Even this year, we are receiving the same components as our colleagues at SMR, so we are well-prepared.

“Therefore, I am sincerely grateful to BMW and especially to Marc Bongers for his support over the years.

“He has been with us in good times and bad, motivating us during difficult moments and sharing our anticipation for the future. I believe this cannot be emphasized enough. I would also like to thank our sponsors for their loyalty and constant support over the past years.

“I wish all the teams in the WorldSBK paddock the best for the future, always ensuring safe riding, which is of utmost importance, and of course, abundant success for everyone.”

Marc Bongers, Sports Director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, commented: “We acknowledge Jürgen Röder’s decision to end his involvement in WorldSBK, and while we regret it, we understand.

“We express our gratitude to the entire Bonovo action BMW racing team, Jürgen Röder, and team manager Michael Galinski, who have led the team with great enthusiasm and dedication, as well as the riders, technicians, mechanics, and all other parties involved for their excellent and professional collaboration over the past years.

“Now, we will continue to give our best together, aiming for success and ensuring solid results in the remaining races of this season.”

BMW has confirmed that it will continue with a single factory team for the 2025 WorldSBK campaign.
