Max Verstappen has reinforced security with two bodyguards at the Mexican Grand Prix of Formula 1. It is a response to some concerns regarding the protection of the drivers during this weekend’s round.
Mexican fans are known for their passion and intensity with which they live Formula 1 and, in particular, the career of the country’s driver – Sergio Pérez. Tensions between him and Red Max Verstappen escalated in the latter part of last year, and in addition, many #11 fans are dissatisfied with the treatment Red Bull gives him.
The Austrian team advisor, Helmut Marko, confirmed to the website F1-Insider.com that two bodyguards will accompany Verstappen in Mexico, but also clarified that it was not the desire of the now three-time world champion: ‘Max doesn’t really want this and he is calm. But we have a responsibility for him. That’s why we just want to play it safe’.
