Apple’s F1 movie reveals details about release date and cast.

The next original F1 film, which has not yet received an official title, will be released in theaters internationally on June 25, 2025, by Warner Bros. Studios. It will then be available in North American theaters on June 27. The film tells a fictional F1 story and follows the character Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, as he returns to the sport after a break, similar to Fernando Alonso. Hayes joins the fictional team APX GP and becomes a mentor to rookie Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris. The film also features an 11th fictional team, APX GP, alongside the existing 10 teams. Plot details are limited, but spy photos from the filming process have been released. The cast includes Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, Samson Kayo, and Callie Cooke. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who has previously directed Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Only the Brave, Top Gun: Maverick, and Spiderhead. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Lewis Hamilton, with collaboration from the existing F1 teams, the FIA, and race promoters. Filming took place during real F1 events, using a modified Formula 2 car with F1 styling. The footage will be combined with real F1 race footage. The film also had a presence at the races it participated in, including a garage, a pitwall set, a hospitality unit in the paddock, and 2022 race telemetry. Brad Pitt and Damson Idris participated in pre-race ceremonies at the British Grand Prix, although they were not visible to the public due to deliberate camera angles.
