In just fifteen months, over 100,000 units of the new Renault 5 E-Tech Electric have already been produced at ElectriCity, the industrial unit of Ampere located in Douai, France. The commemorative example of this significant milestone in the history of the new generation of the brand’s utility vehicle rolled off the assembly line last week, and it is a unit with Techno equipment level and a 52 kWh battery, precisely the most common combination, according to the Billancourt brand.
“Just over a year after its launch, the production of the 100,000th R5 E-Tech Electric in Douai is a testament to the dedication of our teams and the trust of our customers. The Ampere factory has undergone a profound transformation towards electrification, an undertaking driven by the passion and expertise of its workforce. Today, we celebrate much more than a number: we honor the collective ability to write a very important chapter in sustainable innovation,” declared Pierre-Emmanuel Andrieux, director of the manufacturing unit.

It should be noted that this factory produces other electric models, namely the Alpine A290 and the Nissan Micra, two “twins” of the 5 E-Tech Electric, as well as the Renault Scénic E-Tech and Mégane E-Tech Electric, and also the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Every day, 900 cars leave its assembly lines, of which about 600 are units of the R5.
According to the French manufacturer, the R5 E-Tech Electric has been the best-selling 100% electric model in the B segment in Europe for several months. In France, it is even the best-seller among all fully electric cars sold in the country. Recently, Renault introduced the model in countries outside the European Union (Turkey, Israel, and Morocco), with its expansion into other new markets confirmed for 2026.
This is also because, during the next year, the R5 E-Tech Electric will feature some new updates. In addition to offering the One Pedal function (a fourth level of the energy regeneration system during deceleration, which allows the driver to come to a complete stop without using the brake), it will include a driver attention alert system capable of detecting signs of distraction and fatigue. New mobile data services and more decorative stickers for body customization will also become available.
