China com 28 milhões de pontos de carregamento para veículos elétricos em 2027

The numbers regarding the adoption of electric mobility in China continue to surprise, with frequent announcements of records that impress even the most informed about the automotive sector. This time, the data concerns the charging points for batteries that the country aims to have by the end of 2027: something like 28 million! At the end of last year, there were already more than 20 million, representing an increase of over 50% compared to the figure at the end of 2024…

If this target is met, by the end of next year, China will also have more than 300 million kW of energy capacity in the national charging network, which will ensure the powering of batteries for 80 million electric and electrified vehicles (in this latter case including models powered by plug-in hybrid engines and range extenders). This plan, limited to urban areas, foresees the installation of around 1.6 million charging stations, 100,000 of which will be fast and ultra-fast.

In the service areas of the national highway network, for example, the installation of 40,000 new stations is planned, with a minimum charging power of 60 kW. This expansion strategy also includes the implementation of pilot projects for V2G (Vehicle to Grid) technology, announcing 5,000 bidirectional chargers, which allow for both charging the batteries and returning energy to the electrical grid. With this plan, China is responding to the increase in market share of vehicles with NEV technologies (powered by new energies), which has increased tenfold between 2020 and 2025 – and which, last year, already represented 54% of new car sales in the largest market in the world.
