WRC Promoter helps WRC rally organizers obtain FIA three-star environmental certification.

All rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship 2023 calendar have achieved FIA three-star environmental accreditation, demonstrating the WRC Promoter’s dedication to a sustainable future for the championship. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that, with the support of the WRC Promoter, Chile, Central Europe Rally, and Japan’s FORUM8 Rally joined the existing stops on the calendar and obtained their third star. The FIA Environmental Accreditation Program aims to introduce clear and consistent environmental management in motorsport and mobility, helping stakeholders worldwide to measure and improve their environmental performance. Among the notable achievements of WRC event organizers are a comprehensive impact assessment in Japan, involving the identification of flora and fauna species in all rally stages, risk assessment, and implementation of management measures. Additionally, Central Europe Rally prioritized carpooling and mass transportation initiatives, involving fans in reducing their carbon footprint. WRC Promoter’s Sustainability Manager, Santiago Peña Gomez, expressed satisfaction in successfully supporting event promoters in obtaining their 3-star FIA environmental accreditations in 2023. Peña Gomez also highlighted the satisfaction of working closely with Central Europe Rally, which achieved its 3-star level ahead of schedule. For the future, the WRC Promoter aims not only to maintain its commitment to the program but also to raise the standard in standardizing the sustainability performance of its events. The 2024 calendar will see Latvia’s Tet Rally and Poland’s ORLEN 80th Rally as newcomers, starting with two stars as they work towards obtaining their third star by 2025.
