Edd Straw classifica pilotos do Grande Prêmio do Bahrein de F1 de 2024.

A new Formula 1 season brings the opportunity for Edd Straw to evaluate the drivers’ performances. At the Bahrain GP, which opened the season, Straw ranks the drivers based on their performance in qualifying and the race. The ranking takes into consideration various factors, such as pace, racecraft, consistency, and avoiding crucial errors. It is important to note that the ranking reflects each driver’s performance during a specific weekend and does not consider their overall abilities. The ranking can vary significantly from one weekend to another due to the different performance potential of each car and external factors that can influence the race outcome.

Verstappen had an exemplary performance in Bahrain, fighting in qualifying to secure pole position and controlling the race with ease. He demonstrated his quality as a driver and maintained his good form from the previous year.

Russell exceeded expectations in qualifying, securing third place on the grid. Despite issues with the car and the pace of the Ferraris, he managed to finish in fifth place. It was a good start to an important season for him.

Alonso’s performance in qualifying suggested that the Aston Martin was better than it actually was. As a result, he regressed during the race and finished in a solitary ninth place, which was the best the car’s pace allowed.

Leclerc showed good pace in qualifying, setting the fastest time in Q2. However, small errors and brake temperature issues compromised his race, and he finished in fourth place instead of second.

Despite a disappointing performance in Q3, Sainz had a decent race, losing a position at the start but maintaining a consistent pace. He finished in third place, which was a respectable result considering the car’s disadvantage.

Perez was pleased with the car’s stability compared to the previous year. Although he could have been closer to Verstappen in qualifying, he used the car’s pace well and secured second place in the race.

Zhou almost made it to Q3, but had a good race, gaining positions with a proactive pit stop strategy. He finished in 11th place, showing good execution in the season opener.

Stroll faced unexpected challenges in qualifying when he was spun by Hulkenberg at turn 1. However, he recovered well during the race, using the undercut strategy to finish in 10th place.

Norris had the potential to qualify higher, but missed a stronger lap in Q3. In the race, he didn’t have the pace to overtake Russell and finished behind him.

Albon was satisfied with his qualifying performance, considering the limitations of the Williams car. However, cooling issues prevented him from progressing significantly in the race.

Tsunoda’s performance was impressive, almost making it to Q3. However, strategic decisions hindered his progress, and late incidents in the race affected his ranking.

Piastri had a solid performance, finishing less than a tenth behind Norris in qualifying. He would have finished in seventh place if not for an incident in the pits and ended up as the second-best McLaren driver.

Ocon had a conventional weekend, performing as expected in qualifying and following a standard strategy in the race. However, lack of pace in the car limited his chances of achieving a better result.

Gasly had bad luck in qualifying, resulting in a gap between him and his teammate. He had a good race, executing a three-stop strategy and chasing his teammate in the final stretch.

Hulkenberg showed promise in qualifying and had a good race pace. However, an error at the first corner caused damage to his car, preventing him from scoring points.

Hamilton struggled in qualifying, not reaching his potential due to a setup issue. Cooling concerns affected his race, limiting his chances of progress.

Ricciardo had a mixed weekend, with his race performance overshadowed by a late incident with Tsunoda. He struggled to find a comfortable pace with the car.

Bottas had a good start to the race, but was involved in a collision that damaged his front wing. A wheel nut issue during a pit stop also hampered his performance.

Magnussen lacked pace in qualifying, but had a solid race, keeping faster cars behind him. His performance highlighted the progress made since the tire issues of the previous year.

Sargeant struggled with tire temperatures in qualifying, resulting in a significant gap to his teammate. An electronic issue during the race forced him to retire early.

Overall, the Bahrain GP provided an opportunity to evaluate the drivers’ performances, with some exceeding expectations and others facing challenges.
