Portugal has just entered the hypercar war. Adamastor, a small Portuguese manufacturer, has unveiled the Furia, a track machine with road homologation that positions itself directly in the same universe as the Aston Martin Valkyrie and comes with an entry price of 1.6 million euros, around 1.9 million dollars, before taxes. Only 60 units will be produced, placing the Furia in a level of exclusivity that few cars in the world can match.

The story of this project is not new. The first information about this Portuguese hypercar began circulating a few years ago, but it was only recently that the Furia completed a round of tests at the International Circuit of Algarve in Portimão, confirming that Adamastor's ambition is not just on paper. The car exists, runs, and impresses.

Anyone looking at the Furia for the first time immediately perceives the aesthetic reference. The front nose inspired by Formula 1 single-seaters, the protruding wheel arches, the small-sized headlights, the exposed suspension, and the overall cocoon-like shape of the cockpit are elements that unmistakably refer to the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The rear follows the same philosophy, with a dramatically proportioned carbon fiber diffuser and a minimalist-designed rear wing. Adamastor constructed the body panels in carbon fiber, which helps keep the weight controlled and the structural rigidity at the level required by a car with such dynamic aspirations.

Where the Furia clearly distinguishes itself from the Valkyrie is beneath the bodywork. While the British hypercar relies on a V12 engine specifically developed by Cosworth, the Adamastor opted for a more pragmatic yet equally effective solution: the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 block that powers the Ford GT. With the tuning applied by the Portuguese manufacturer, this engine delivers 650 horsepower and 571 Nm of torque, figures that allow the Furia to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in approximately 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h in the version homologated for public road use.

The transmission is a sequential gearbox that sends all power to the rear wheels. The brakes are supplied by AP Racing, an absolute reference in the world of motorsport, and the suspension is adjustable double wishbone. The aerodynamic chapter is where the Furia reveals its most extreme nature: in the track version, the bodywork is capable of generating 1,799 kilograms of downforce at 250 km/h, a number that places this Portuguese hypercar in direct conversation with the most sophisticated machines on the planet.

The market for track-focused hypercars that are also suitable for the road already includes names like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Koenigsegg, KTM X-Bow GT-XR, Czinger 21C, and Praga Bohema. The Furia joins this list with its own identity, carrying the pride of being a genuinely Portuguese creation in a segment dominated by brands with decades or centuries of history. With 60 units planned for production and a price that brooks no hesitation, Adamastor is not trying to please everyone. It is building something for the few who know exactly what they want and have the means to achieve it.

Portugal now has its hypercar. And its name is Fúria.
